About Me

I am an oil painter and book artist. I received my B.A. in Art (that's right, a Bachelor of Arts in Art. Try telling that to people) in a speedy three years, specializing in painting. I have a studio in my basement but generally end up scattering my work all over the rest of my house instead.

I live at the end of the world, otherwise known as Saskatchewan, and work at a swanky jewellery store. There's nothing fun to do so I have plenty of time to create things.

I specialize in portraits, cityscapes, and still life.I like to use gold leaf in my work. I love paper of every kind. It's a bit of a problem. I continually choose projects that are much to involved for any rational person and no one will ever want to buy.

My favorite artists are Michelangelo, Chagall, Carravaggio, van Gogh, Derain, Braque, and Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven. I also love graphic novels, illuminated manuscripts (like the Book of Kells), the look of old black and white movies (especially Alfred Hitchcock and film noir), and vintage posters.

I love doing custom work, please contact me at art.jenbass@gmail.com if you're interested.
