Permission

This is a photo of a print I got last year, and has since been in hiding until I decided to add it to my postcard collection. It's from an artist in Ontario who's work is available on Etsy. His store is Jackson Creek Press. I got this at a craft show, along with a couple of other prints, including the 'Ode to Guitar' he has for sale, and a bunch of cards. This one is my favourite. It just makes me happy to see it. I wish they'd put one up in every art school. Of course, I have it next to my dining room table, but I think people will be able to figure out it doesn't apply to the food! In fact, I wish it came as a pair, and the match would say "If you think you can do better prove it".

If anyone is thinking about my upcoming birthday, feel free to get me the Rest Easy print.

Moleskine Covers

Today the Moleskine cover I made last year was featured on Notebook Stories, and that finally motivated me to figure out how to take some photos to put the other ones I've had hanging around on Etsy. I still don't have most of my stuff, or at any rate, any big white sheets of paper, so I improvised a background with the new shelf and brick wall of my condo. I hope it's neutral enough for some good shots. At any rate, they're good enough for now and I can always redo them when I get a good setup.

I have two covers for the large notebooks:

This one is marbled paper and recycled leather. Available in my shop.

This is linen and recycled leather. I really like the contrast on this one. Available in the shop.

And one small notebook cover:

I think this one is really lovely, and a neat way of using little bits of paper I'd normally throw away. Justification for hoarding? See it in the shop.

I've actually written blog posts about all of these, if you want to check them out, but this is the first time I've had them in my Etsy shop.

I love dresses

I have something amounting to an obsession with dresses, especially grey ones for some reason. I don't even get to wear them very often, but I love them dearly. I made a treasurey on Etsy of some of the ones I'd love most. Go take a peek.

Suddenly Popular

I have to say that I find it pretty encouraging that within days of reopening my Etsy shop my Words and Letters book has been featured in two treasuries! Both features lovely black and white, typographic themed works. Take a quick peek, and add a comment!

Coming to a Hotel Sask Near You

OK, so there is only one Hotel Sask. Point is, there's a new gift store/coffee shop opening up (reopening?)and it's going to feature some of my books and paintings. This is impressive people, it's where the Queen and Prime Minister stay, and puts me on a level with some of the other fabulous things available there. Like Bushwakker beer. mmmmm.

I'm going to be taking a few of the things in my Etsy store, so things will be changing quite a bit in the next week or so as I get organized. I will also be making some postcard books and moleskine covers to round out what I bring and have a nice selection.

Oh, and one other things will be featured. The Tell-Tale Heart! It will be finished later this evening. Stay tuned for many many photos. If I can stop staring at the cover long enough to finish, that is. Yup, it's that nice.

Tradeseys?

Guitars & Drums, Take 2 (JunoFest 2009) by redpumpkinstudio

I made another treasury on etsy today (which I'm trying to post in a slightly more organized manner than the last one) featuring city views, music, and graffiti in some combination or other. I had a very clever name for it, too, but I'd forgotten it by the time I had to actually type it in. Oh well! It's called Cityscapes instead. I based it around my drawing here. of JunoFest 2009 I was originally putting together one around the Rhapsody in Blue painting I did and posted a couple of days ago, but I started to realize that just wasn't anywhere as cool as the ones I found, and started again hoping this one would stand up better.

But all of this got me thinking, because I found many awesome pieces of art I would now desperately like to own but can't afford. And what I'm thinking is there should be a way to trade on etsy. I've got a couple nice pieces of art from my student days I traded with my classmates for, and it's a great way for broke people to get stuff. Cash poor, art rich. So to speak. It could be kind of like a dating site, you know. If you both favourite something the site automatically links you up, and you swap the item. Anyone up?

All my bags are packed.

I've been thinking even more that usual about traveling. I made an etsy treasury of all the things I need to take to travel light and stay away for months! Featuring my own postcard book, of course, (I'm a sucker for a good postcard. Museums keep the best stuff in the shops) and then everything else I would need. Especially this bag.

Sorry about the odd placement of the items here, not sure what is up with that, but follow the links anyway!

Because I'm Awesome

I'll right, so I was going to title this something less egotistical, but what the hell. Anyway, voting closed on the etsy team's Carnival challenge and my Harlequin Boxes won! I'm excited that other people enjoyed my project as much as I did, especially with the other very beautiful entries.

Minis

I thought I would try some teensey books, ones that are small enough to mail as a letter rather than a parcel, to save on shipping. Also, the average sale on Etsy is about $15, so for $12 I'm checking to see how these sell. Added bonus, they only take about an hour or so to make so I can try a whole bunch of different things in less time than normal.
